Poppet valves have been used for a long time for very high pressure reciprocating compressors, as for example in case of Low Density Polyethylene and Compressed Natural Gas. In these applications the final pressure can reach 350-400 bar and the evaluation of the machine performance is strongly connected to the proper operation and performance of the valve itself. The cylinder arrangement requires a compactness of the valve in order to withstand high fatigue stresses. For these reasons in these cases Poppet Valves can be the right solution.
